Giada Vianne

Giada Vianne was born today (2-25-2009) at 3:02pm. She is a precious little girl who weighs 7 pounds 7 ounces and is 20 1/2 inches long. Mom and baby are doing wonderfully. In fact, the labor couldn't have gone easier. It only took about 30 minutes and 4 BIG pushes. We hope to be going home late tomorrow or sometime on Friday. Thank you for all the well wishes. Click the photo below to see more of our new little girl. Now... time for some rest. :)

Pregnancy update from Monique...

Monique wanted to share the latest on the Giada girl... Hi all,

I had my first doctor's appt today since the hospital and it went very well. We got to see Giada on ultrasound once again, and this time, for a little more length. She was quite funny and very active (per usual). Every time the technician went to take a picture Giada would move to mess up the shot, to which the technician said ... "I am glad she is going to YOUR house," ha! Giada is now 5 lbs 2 ounces, with a strong heart and has nothing that calls out any worries about any specific organs or health issues. She also decided to stop worrying her parents and flipped. So she is no longer breech and is where she needs to be.
As for me, I remain on bedrest until 37 weeks when they consider the baby out of the proverbial woods, so to speak. The doctor said that anything after 36/37 weeks and they don't even stop the labor and there is a good chance the baby would go home with us instead of staying in the NICU. To this end, I must see my doctor every week pretty much until the baby arrives. So I remain working from the home and comfort of my couch.

Big hugs and thanks again to everyone for their love and support through this ... my family and friends rock!
Cheers! mo

Pregnancy update: Going Home...

Good morning! We just got some good news... we're going home today. After being taken off the magnesium last night, Monique has only had a handful of mild contractions. So no medication is necessary, just bed rest/couch rest for the time being and follow up with her doctor this week to see how things progress. Hopefully, with a little luck, you won't be hearing anything else from us on this until the baby arrives on schedule. :) Thank you for all your prayers and well wishes.

Pregnancy update

Sorry for using the blog to communicate this news, but we figured it the easiest way to keep everyone updated. Let me start by saying that both Monique and the baby are fine. Yesterday afternoon, Monique had some discharge that had her and her doctor concerned since she still has 2 months to go before the due date. Her doctor asked her to go to labor & delivery at the hospital to get checked out. She was hooked up to the monitors and was examined. She was 1.5 cm dilated when we got here and was having some random, but regular contractions. After being monitored for a while, she was put onto magnesium sulfate to slow the contractions. This has been working very well and she is no more dilated now than when she arrived. In fact, about an hour ago, they took her off of it and are monitoring her to see if the contractions come back. Depending on how the night goes, we'll find out what's next... go home and it's business as usual, go home with a prescription for Procardia to keep the contractions away, bed rest, no bed rest... that part is all up in the air as we see how things progress. We'll know more in the morning. The past 24+ hours have been excruciatingly long and packed with emotion. That said, Monique is feeling much better now that she is off the magnesium and wants everyone to know that Foly catheters are evil. I'll keep the blog updated as best I can. Speaking of blog updates, I have been slacking in the blog and photo up to date lately. I'll try to do better. Case in point, I should have posted already that the baby's name is Giada Vianne. Who knows, maybe I'll have time to get some things posted tonight since we're doing so much better now!
